Committee Update

The Committee met again on 23 November 2023.

The Secretary, John Alexander has, for personal reasons, resigned from the
Committee. We would like to thank him very much for his work forming the
Committee and his commitment. His knowledge and experience will be missed.

Helen Arthur has kindly agreed to temporarily take on the Secretary role. A
reminder that the email is thesecretarylhra@gmail.com. Please use this email in the first instance when contacting the Committee.

This means we have a vacancy on the Committee. We welcome any offers to
join us. Currently we have no representation from Cospatrick Court (phase 1).
Please don’t let that put you off if you are in another phase. We are looking for
someone who can attend a monthly meeting and who is prepared to get
involved with liaising with other parties to ensure the smooth running of Leet
Haugh Estate. Please feel free to talk to any of the Committee if you are
interested.

Christmas Tree

We are still looking for help with putting up and decorating the tree which will
be placed on the Green. We are expecting delivery mid December. Please let
the Secretary know if you can help or if you see us on the day it is delivered, feel free to just come out and join in. 🎄

Ongoing Leet Haugh Estate Issues

The Committee are working hard to ensure Phase 5 is completed along with
other outstanding items on the Estate by liaising with our Factor, FBR Seed,
Scottish Borders Council, Hudson Hirsel, the Hirsel Estate. etc.

These include (but this is not a definitive list) :

  • Confirmation of our requirements for the garden programme and negotiating
  • A new contract for David, our Gardener, in consultation with our Factor
  • Working with the Council regarding roads/pavements/lighting/adopting roads
  • Talking with Hudson Hirsel to get timescales for completion of phase 5.
  • Defibrillator – this has kindly been arranged for Leet Haugh by Coldstream Heart Rhythm and is going to be sited on the Green in the near future. Thanks also to the Hudson Hirsel Community Fund who are funding installation.
  • Liaising with our Factor to ensure responsibilities and accountability are agreed. This is to ensure that they are working for the residents and we know where our money is being spent.
  • Chasing up the Factor to complete outstanding maintenance issues.
  • Liaising with the Hirsel Estate to remove the over hanging/partially falling trees at the top car park in Dunglass Road.
  • A resident from Phase 4 has reported that her gas meter was not properly
earthed and she has had to have an emergency repair. If you are uncertain of your gas meter status you should contact your utility provider.

Information Portal

This is still in progress and will hopefully be up and running before Christmas
and relevant information will be posted on there.

Finally

We will be in touch in the New Year once we have some clarification on the
outstanding issues.

So it just remains for us to wish you, your friends and families a Merry Christmas and healthy and happy New Year
